Workshop on Geographical Indications

On 13th February, 2019 a workshop was organized on Geographical indications by Himachal Pradesh Patent Information Center, Himachal Pradesh Council for Science, Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE) in collaboration with Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP). The event was held in Chai Bhawan, Palampur. Dr Akshai Runchal (president of KAPS) was one of the honourable guest of the event for the day.

At the event Dr Akshai Runchal he spoke about history of kangra paintings, history of KAPS and grading of kangra miniature art forms. The KAPS resident artist Shri Monu Kumar felicitated Mr. Shashi Dhar, Sr. Technical Assistant-HIMCOSTE with a kangra painting which was under the title Raga Deepak and based on Ragmala theme.

The main objective of the event was to spread awareness among the local folks and artists about the importance of GI (Geographical Indications) and  purchasing the authentic kangra paintings. Event was based on making people aware about geographical indication which is a distinctive sign of product authentication.
