Nain Sukh Painting Competition- 2017

Kangra Arts Promotion Society conducted Nain Sukh Painting Competition for school children in Dharamshala town on 7th Oct, 2017 at Dayanand Model Sr. Sec. School, Civil Lines.

A total number of 145 students participated from 18 schools from Dharamshala region. Smt.  Sarika Singh(renowned Thangka artist) was delighted on her presence at the event and congratulated all the participants.

Dr. Akshai Runchal (President KAPS) and Mr. Varun Rattan Singh (Secretary KAPS) enlightened the children with brief history and origin of Kangra Paintings and encouraged them to learn the art as well.

The participants were given awareness about the process of creating a Kangra painting by the various artists of Kangra Arts Promotion Society. The awareness included the type of colour used and how it is derived from natural objects to the preparation of the special paper on which these paintings are made.

The Winners of Nain Sukh Painting Competition are as under:

In Junior Category (Class 6th – 8th)

1st Prize – Palavi K (Class 6th Army Public School Yol Cantt)

2nd Prize – Yulendha (Class 6th Kanshi Ram Memorial Sen. Sec. School)

3rd Prize – Muskan Sharma (Class 8th Army Public School Yol Cantt)

In Senior Category (Class 9th-12th)

1st Prize – Nikhilesh (Class 10th Army Public School Yol Cantt)

2nd Prize – Ananya Thakur (Class 9th B D DAV Public School Dharamshala)

3rd Prize – Shabnam (Class 12th Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School Dharamshala)

 

KAPS distributed the total prize money of Rs. 12000 among all the winners. Apart from prize, the top ten budding artists will be selected by KAPS and will be given an opportunity to learn the art of Kangra Miniatures at Chitera Art School in the District Museum in Dharamshala for a period of three months sponsored by the Kangra Arts Promotion Society. Also 15 selected paintings from the competition will be displayed at Maximus Mall, Dharamshala and then at various locations in and around Dharamshala for a period of one month.
